how to clean old wooden furniture

How to clean old wooden furniture and antique enough? Cleaning furniture seems not to be that difficult. But if the furniture has been old enough, it can be another story. Yes, stains here and there that cannot be simply gone, dust that has been attached very strongly, and others become really big problems to make it clean and look new. Although it may be more difficult than cleaning new furniture, it doesn’t mean you cannot do it. Generally, cleaning old and new furniture is just the same. For the old one, you only need to do more. So, how to clean old wooden furniture?

Cleaning Liquid and Hot Water

If new furniture can be cleaned using the solution of cleaning liquid and cold water, it seems more difficult to clean the old one using the same formula. Yes, you need to boil the water first to make it hotter. The water itself should not be too hot or boiled. Make sure it is hot enough without hurting your hands when touching it.

Prepare also a cleaning sponge or a rug that is not too coarse. Soak the sponge into the solution and squeeze it. Rub the sponge to the furniture surface. When you find dirt or stain that seems to be very difficult to remove, you must rub it harder. Indeed, you probably need to rub it several times until it is clean. But this method is quite safe particularly if you want to keep the furniture surface good and not peeling off.

Baking Soda and Toothpaste

Some household tools magically bring other functions. Some of them are baking soda and toothpaste. They are a perfect combo to clean the surface of furniture that looks very difficult to handle. So, how to do it? First of all, prepare all the ingredients along with a sponge and water. If it is needed, you need an unused toothbrush also and a smooth rug.

Now, start to make a solution, it is the mixture of a teaspoon of baking soda, a teaspoon of toothpaste, and a glass of water. Put them all in a bowl or a small bucket. Stir them thoroughly until the combination is mixed well. Soak the sponge in the solution and use it to rub the surface of the furniture. If there is a stain that cannot be easily cleaned, rub it using the coarse side of the sponge or you can use the toothbrush.

After the entire part of furniture has been cleaned, wash the sponge with clean water to remove soap bubbles. Rinse the furniture with clean and warm water. Next, dry it using the rug you have prepared before. It is much better to dry the furniture in the open area so that it dries faster.

Vinegar

If you don’t have baking soda at home, you can use vinegar instead. The process is very similar to the previous point. Make a solution first using a teaspoon of vinegar and water. Use a sponge to rub it particularly on areas with irremovable stains. This is another way how to clean wood furniture easily.
